Travel to Arusha National Park, where you’ll meet your English-speaking ranger for your first immersion in Tanzania’s natural world. Set off on a walk lasting around 1.5 to 2 hours through the park’s wild landscapes. This is a different way to experience a safari, allowing you to observe wildlife up close in its natural habitat. Throughout the walk, Mount Meru provides a stunning backdrop to your first glimpse of the wide-open spaces and distinctive landscapes of northern Tanzania.

Travel to a Maasai village nestled in spectacular natural surroundings. This stop gives you the chance to discover a community that continues to uphold its traditions, social structure and ancestral way of life.
On arrival, the local people will welcome you with traditional songs and dances, as they do for visitors and guests from neighbouring villages. This is a special opportunity to share a glimpse of their daily life and learn more about Maasai culture.
You’ll then head to your campsite near the village, where tea will be served before dinner. Prepared on site by a cook, the meal is shared with your guide and, subject to availability, the village chief may also join you.

Day 3: Maasai village - Lake Natron
- Daily life in a Maasai community
Wake at first light in the peaceful savannah. If weather conditions are favourable, you may see Mount Kilimanjaro on the horizon, making a spectacular start to the day.
You’ll then meet the Maasai villagers and discover their daily life and traditions. They’ll show you how they build their homes, explain the vital role that livestock plays in their way of life, and introduce you to some of their traditional food practices, particularly those involving milk and cattle.
This encounter also offers the chance to learn more about their knowledge of local plants, which have been used for generations for a range of purposes and traditional remedies.
After a hearty breakfast prepared by the chef, it will be time to say goodbye to your hosts.
- Lake Natron
Travel to Lake Natron through the magnificent landscapes of the Rift Valley. Along the way, you’ll cross vast natural areas where you may spot various wildlife species roaming freely in their natural habitat.
You’ll then reach Lake Natron, one of northern Tanzania’s most remarkable landscapes. Rich in salts and minerals, its waters can take on striking shades of turquoise, pink and red, depending on conditions. Its shores are also an important breeding site for large colonies of flamingos.
The landscape is dominated by Mount Gelai and the impressive Ol Doinyo Lengai, the region’s iconic active volcano, rising above the wilderness surrounding the lake.
Meals and overnight stay.
- Accommodation: Giraffe Eco-Lodge (or similar)
2 nights with half board

Day 4: Lake Natron
- The shores of Lake Natron
Early in the morning, accompanied by a local English-speaking guide, walk among herds of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and ostrich to the shores of the lake. The high concentration of natron in the lake water can be dangerous to living things, both human and animal. However, more than 2.5 million flamingos inhabit its shores, creating a magical spectacle.
Your driver-guide will meet you by vehicle at the end of the walk and take you back to the hotel.
Lunch at the lodge.
- River walk
In the afternoon, enjoy a change of scenery with a walk between the river and the mountains, surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Rift Valley. Along the way, take in the unspoilt wilderness before reaching a natural waterfall, where you can cool off with a swim in its crystal-clear waters.
After this relaxing time in nature, return to the hotel in the afternoon.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Notes:
After your morning walk, you can visit the nearby school to learn more about education in Tanzania and support the school by bringing school supplies, food or clothing (please enquire).
For the river walk, you should be in good physical health and have sure footing. Alternatively, you can spend the afternoon relaxing at one of the sulphurous hot springs along the lake.
Day 5: Lake Natron – Serengeti
This morning, leave Natron and head for the Serengeti.
Picnic lunch en route, followed by an afternoon game drive along the tracks leading to the lodge.
- Serengeti National Park
The Mara River flows through the park, creating ideal conditions for wildlife. Its banks and the surrounding plains attract buffalo, giraffes, antelope, wildebeest, elephants and large predators year-round, while the river itself is home to hippos and crocodiles. The region also lies along the route of the Great Migration, one of Africa’s most impressive natural spectacles. As the seasons change, huge herds of wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelles, travel hundreds of kilometres between different territories in search of water and fresh grazing.
Dinner and overnight at camp.
- Migration and accommodation in the Serengeti
The Serengeti is the setting for the most spectacular animal migration you’ll ever witness. Around mid-April, the herds gather on the plains and head north, crossing the Mara River into Kenya. They cross back over the river around November.
To follow the migration and ensure the best wildlife viewing conditions, including sightings of vast herds, we’ll arrange your stay in the north, centre or south of the park.
- December to March: 2 nights in the south.
- From April to June and in November: 2 nights in the central area.
- From July to October: ideally, spend 1 night in the north and 1 night in the central area (or 2 nights in the central area if you’d like to reduce driving times).
- Accommodation: Kenzan Mata (or similar)
3 nights on a half-board basis

Days 6 & 7: Serengeti National Park
Two days of game drives in the park.
Serengeti National Park is one of Tanzania’s most iconic natural areas and one of the largest wilderness reserves on the African continent. Its name comes from the Maasai word Siringet, meaning “endless plain”—a fitting description of its vast landscapes. Covering nearly 14,800 km², the park offers a remarkable variety of scenery, at elevations ranging from around 920 to 1,850 metres. Open plains give way to acacia-dotted savannah, hills, woodlands and imposing rocky outcrops known as kopjes, a distinctive feature of the Serengeti. This diversity of habitats supports abundant wildlife throughout the year. The Serengeti is especially renowned for its many predators, including lions, cheetahs and leopards, as well as the extraordinary variety of species that inhabit its vast wilderness.
Picnic lunches during the safari.
Dinners and overnight stays at camp.

Day 8: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu
Early departure by 4x4 to the Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend into the crater for an exceptional day (maximum 6 hours inside the crater).
Picnic lunch in the crater.
- Ngorongoro Crater
The crater is home to an exceptional concentration of wildlife, including large numbers of wildebeest and zebra. Unlike those living outside the crater, these animals remain in the area year-round and do not take part in the Great Migration. The plains are also home to eland, buffalo, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, hartebeest and dik-diks. This abundance of herbivores naturally attracts many predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals. The area is also an important habitat for a wide variety of birds, which can be spotted throughout the year.
Dinner and overnight stay.
- Accommodation: Farm of dreams Lodge (or similar)
1 night with half board

Day 9: Karatu – Tarangire National Park
Early departure for a full-day safari in Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park before continuing your wildlife viewing in the afternoon.
Covering around 2,600 km², Tarangire offers a remarkable variety of landscapes, from savannah and plains to woodland and the majestic baobabs that are one of the park’s defining features. The Tarangire River runs through this vast region from north to south and is vital to wildlife, especially during the dry season when animals gather around its water sources.
Renowned for its large elephant population, the park is also home to a wide variety of wildlife. On your safari, you may see zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and many other species, as well as the predators that roam this wilderness.
Dinner and overnight stay.
- Accommodation: Nyikani Tented Camp (or similar)
1 night with half board
