THE PLACE Firenze is a famous luxury hotel in the heart of Florence, Italy, overlooking Santa Maria Novella Square. Originally opened in 2003, under the ownership and care of the Babini family and its general manager Claudio Meli, the hotel will reopen in March 2024, following an extensive renovation by award-winning design firm Luigi Fragola Architects.


Once completed, the reimagined property will feature 20 rooms and suites and a variety of common spaces that immerse guests in the local Florentine community. With its harmonious blend of modern and historic design elements and infused with Italian hospitality, THE PLACE Firenze reflects the timeless beauty and dynamism of Florence. It's a true home away from home, from the moment guests ring the bell to the door being opened for them.


THE PLACE Firenze is part of The Hospitality Experience (aka THE) – a new collection of luxury Italian properties owned and operated by the Babini family which includes three hotels in its current collection: THE PLACE Firenze (Florence), Londra Palace (Venice) , and the upcoming Borgo Dei Conti Resort (Umbria) is expected to debut in summer 2024. Since purchasing their first property in 1938, the family has focused on preserving historic assets with architectural heritage and cultural significance. Under the current leadership of CEO Carlo Babini, The Hospitality Experience was created to bring together these iconic addresses under one management group and provide unparalleled service to its guests.



Rooms & Suites



THE SUPERIOR ROOM


Welcoming amenities, which coherently reflect the refined style of the House. These types of rooms, with a surface area of ​​up to 25 m², have unique layouts and overlook interior courtyards or the 17th century courtyard. Enriched with elegant parquet floors, available with double bed or two single beds, elegant bathroom with shower.



THE DELUXE ROOM


Comfortable rooms with a unique design, with a surface area of ​​up to approximately 32 m², located in the heart of the hotel and overlooking the interior, in a position of total tranquility and privacy. They are available with a double bed or two single beds, elegant parquet flooring, large bathroom with bathtub or shower.



THE JUNIOR SUITE


A layout with a neo-vintage inspired design. Located on the top floor of the Hotel, the Junior Suite is organized on two floors, with panoramic views of the colonnade of Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the eponymous Church. With a surface area of ​​approximately 40 m2, the Junior Suite includes a small living room with a relaxation area and a 140 cm sofa bed, at entrance level. The bedroom – on the upper floor – is available with a double bed or two single beds and bathroom with shower cabin.



THE EXECUTIVE SUITE


Spacious and welcoming suites with refined design. Located at the rear of the House, they overlook the interior courtyard and guarantee the greatest tranquility. With a surface area of ​​approximately 50 m², they are arranged as follows: living room with a designer parchment desk, a double bed, a mahogany console and a dressing room. The bedroom – independent and separate – is available with a double bed or two single beds depending on availability, parquet flooring and a bathroom with bathtub or shower combination depending on availability.



THE SANTA MARIA NOVELLA MASTER SUITE


Elegant, spacious and comfortable suites, with an exclusive perspective on the monumental Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the eponymous Basilica. Open space with an area of ​​50 m2, carpet in pearl gray tones or parquet, with an ornamental fireplace, parchment desk, large four-poster bed, living area with double sofa bed, crystal light fixture and bathroom with bathtub and shower cabin.



THE PANORAMIC LOFT


A unique, bright and comfortable space, with a timeless and vaguely retro design, arranged on two floors with a privileged view of Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the Alberti building of the same name. Surface area of ​​approximately 50 m2, the suite is made particularly welcoming by the white oak slatted parquet flooring. The entrance opens onto a living room with double sofa bed, a designer parchment desk and a bathroom with shower; on the upper floor, the sleeping area is available with a double bed and a large bathroom with shower cabin.



THE DUOMO PENTHOUSE


Located on the top floor, The Duomo Penthouse is the most “attractive” room in the Hotel. With its relaxing and contemporary design, it offers a breathtaking view of the rooftops of Florence for a total immersion in Beauty. The 40 m2 surface area - spread over two floors - is made particularly bright by the white oak parquet flooring. The entrance leads to a designer desk, wardrobe, double lighting and a large full size wall mirror. Upstairs, the large panoramic bathroom features a bathtub in the center of a 180° bay window, with full city views, a separate shower and double sink. Private belvedere, with a view of the Dome Cupola, for moments of pure happiness in good company.


Cuisine & Bar

The property's culinary program includes an artisanal Tuscan restaurant, open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., for both hotel guests and the public, with an elegant outdoor terrace overlooking Piazza di Santa Maria Novella and a lounge. intimate cocktail lounges and a rooftop offering dining and drinking experiences that retain the feeling of being at home, where every detail has been carefully considered, from selected local ingredients and mise en place.


Deeply rooted in Tuscan tradition, the hotel's culinary offerings celebrate rich, rustic gastronomy with distinctive seasonal menus created by Chef Asso Migliore, complemented by a mixology program. Ingredients are sourced from local suppliers with traditional Italian cooking techniques incorporated throughout, to create menu highlights like the Il Filetto (free-range Calvana beef filet with truffled potato mash and bok choy) Il Pacchero (Paccheri pasta with hand-cut Grigio Casentino pork ragout), and Il Pescato (fish of the day with potatoes, taggiasca olives, capers and tomatoes), alongside a varied selection of local cheeses and charcuterie. The restaurant also offers a unique Flambée Culinary Experience, which features an eclectic 4-course menu prepared tableside by the hotel's culinary practitioners, offering a contemporary take on a long-standing hospitality tradition.


THE PLACE Firenze's intimate cocktail lounge offers a diverse menu of classic favorites and playful concoctions such as The Prince of Florence (Alkermes Santa Maria Novella, Aurum Italian orange liqueur, rose elixir, Champagne) and The Flavor (a twist on a Dirty Martini with black olive infused vodka, cherry tomato water and more dry vermouth). As part of its programming, the show also offers a unique Negroni experience -- a masterclass on the cocktail in the city where it was invented. Guests can imbibe seven different negronis while learning about its evolution, history and contemporary practices. Scheduled to debut in March 2024, the hotel's rooftop Alcova offers an outdoor oasis for meals and libations overlooking the magnificent city of Florence.


At the heart of the hotel's and THE's philosophy is its philanthropic foundation, The Place of Wonders. – a project dedicated to protecting, maintaining and promoting centuries-old traditions of creativity and artistic craftsmanship. Italians. Designed to keep these traditions alive, the property's cultural programming allows guests, through a donation, to participate in exclusive on-site tours of artisan practices focusing on various creative forms specific to the region, including weaving, scagliola and goldsmith. Through the foundation, in partnership with LAO — a renowned Florentine goldsmithing school formerly known as Le Arti Orafe di Firenze — young artisans participating in The Place of Wonders are eligible to receive support in the form of scholarships, which directly help perpetuate local customs and traditions. Currently THE PLACE Firenze offers visits to six workshops including: porcelain, scagliola, goldsmithing, glass engraving, cashmere and silver production, as well as a special visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art where the emblematic Rucellai Chapel is located .
